What another great performance by
our Ringwood athletes and helpers. There were a lot of tired smiles by the
end of the day but the results show it was all worthwhile. The day started off with a few
testing moments with lost batons and a few issues with the timing equipment Thank you to all volunteers -
your help throughout the day was invaluable and means that such an event can
be hosted and allowed many athletes from around the EMR region the chance to
compete.
Many of our teams made finals
resulting in 9 teams being awarded medals. We are now waiting for the
progressions to the State championships being held at Olympic Park in
Melbourne on 13th December. These should be available by this time next
week, if not before hand. Even those teams who did not medal but made
the final have the chance to represent Ringwood at State level. Overall we had 16 teams make
finals over all age groups - quite an achievement. Well done to
everyone for a very successful day, Special thanks to our trusty Team
Managers Rob Repalust and Jo Benifer who made sure everything went ahead
with a minimum of fuss. Additionally they could not have done their job
without the time and help of the dedicated age group managers, parent /
guardian helpers, volunteers, ex-athletes and of course our very well
behaved athletes who are a credit again to the Ringwood centre. U9 Girls 4x200 A U9 Boys 4x100 A U9 Boys 4x200 A U10 Boys 4x200 A U11 Boys 4x100 A U11 Mixed 4x100 A U12 Boys 4x200 A U12 Boys Medley A U12 Girls 4x100 A U12 Girls 4x200 A U12 Mixed 4x100 A U12 Mixed 4x100 B U15 Mixed 4x100 A

Just
over 50 athletes represented Ringwood in the EMR Track and Field Championships
over the weekend of Saturday / Sunday 14th and 15th
February at the Bill Sewart Athletics track, Nunawading. The weather was warm on
both days, although a strong dose of smoke haze on Saturday and headwind on
Sunday afternoon made conditions difficult for many of the events.
The final competition
day for our 2008/2009 T & F season will be our Centre Games on Saturday, March
28. Athletes have the opportunity to enter their favourite events and will
compete for medals, ribbons and points for their Club for the Bruce Seeley
Shield. The day will start at 8.15 am and conclude about 3.30 pm.
The closing date for
entries is fixed. Acceptance of late entries for our Pentathlon Day and our
Multi-Event Open Day resulted in considerable extra work for our organisers and
redrafting of programs.

The EMR Track and
Field timetable has been published and is available
HERE.
It is also proposed
to run straight finals of all laned events at the finals time.
