Victorian Little Athletics Association (VLAA) www.littleathletics.com.au
Little Athletics began in Geelong in 1964 and soon spread to other Victorian towns. In 1967 the Victorian Little Athletics Association was formed.
The Geelong experiment was obviously a success because today a total 88,000 boys and girls (22,000+ in Victoria) are registered with some 500 centres around Australia.
The Centres are affiliated with one of the State or Territory Associations which, in turn, are affiliated with the national organising body - the Australian Little Athletics Union.
Little Athletics offers a wide range of running, walking, throwing, jumping and play training events.
Winning is not everything at Little Athletics. The main emphasis is on participation and skills development. Children learn and practice the key skills of athletics through games and activities.
Its an ideal first sport for children. The running, jumping and throwing activities help develop balance flexibility and strength.
VLAA is responsible for setting standards, maintaining competition regulations, keeping Little Athletics in the public eye and conducting championship events at State level.
Eastern Metropolitan Region of Melbourne - (EMR) www.emr.org.au
Ringwood Centre is one of 12 Little Athletics Centres in the Eastern Metro Region. The Region administration is responsible for conducting Regional heats for State championship events.
Our Region also conducts coaching camps where athletes who are serious about their sport, can learn from top level accredited coaches.
