CROSS COUNTRY - 2008

Cross-country competition is on a Sunday morning between 10am and 12noon; with different Centres within our sub-Region taking turns to provide the venue. Ringwood will host 1 event this season and parent assistance will be needed to set up and run this event. If  Sunday mornings are not convenient then we are able to run athletes from Ringwood at the Knox Saturday morning event, should you wish to run at either events you will need to complete a registration form which is below.

Athletes compete in the same age group as they do for the track season 2005/2006. Each age group has there own distances with open days allowing an athlete to run up 1 age group only. Boys and Girls may run together depending on the size of the field of athletes.

AGE GRP          DISTANCE                 AGE GRP     DISTANCE

U6                       500m                      U7-U8             1000m

U9-U10               1500m                     U11-U12        2000m

U13-U15            3000m

As with Track & Field, athletes can be very competitive or they can run for fun and fitness. Each athlete competes in one race per event. Athletes may choose to compete in as many or as few venues as they wish during the season including Saturday & Sunday. However there is a minimum requirement to be eligible for Region/State Championships.

Open Days are local Championships and both individual and team medals are awarded. Region and State Championships are held for U9 –15 age groups, with invitation events for U7-8. There is an event for U6 at Region but not at State. Athletes at present must compete at Region if they wish to compete at State.

If you are currently registered for season 2006/2007 athletics you have no further registration fee to pay your initial rego fee covers the both seasons. However, if you know someone who only wants to do Cross Country the fee is $50.

All participants must complete the Cross Country Expression of Interest form and hand to the Cross Country Team Manager or your Club Team Manager.

Any further questions can be answered by Jo Benifer on 98848785 or 0414620716.
