* We will need more Officials for this week (Centre Games)
- Remember: It is your responsibility to arrange a replacement if you cannot be present on your rostered day – officials are listed by Club, so you should be able to find someone from your club to change duties with you.
DUTIES OF ROSTERED OFFICIALS
1. Show up (or organise a replacement and let the Officials’ Steward know about the change on the day so your attendance can be noted).
2. Get to the track early (8.15 am on Saturdays and 5.30 pm on Fridays) to help set up all the required equipment at the different events (long jump, high jump, discus, time keeper’s equipment, etc). Competition can only start on time if the rostered officials arrive in time to set up.
3. Sign on for duty at the Officials’ table and go to the assigned event.
4. Help at the assigned event for the morning. Do not worry that you may not know anything about being an Official or what to do. There are plenty of people available to advise you. Most activities are relatively simple and easy to do.
5. Officials are invited to have a complimentary cup of tea or coffee from the canteen on their duty day.
6. Pack-up all equipment at the end of the day.
7. If events/competition runs overtime, it is generally because rostered officials have not turned up or made arrangements for a replacement.
UNDER 7 PARENTS
- Parents of Under 7 athletes may be concerned about who will look after their child while they do their duty. One solution is for parents to team up with other Under 7 parents so when you have your duty, your “team mate” can look after your child, or you can do half a day each for two of the three-week programs. Please contact Helen Street (9876 4626) if you have any concerns about this. Unfortunately, the Centre will needs your participation as a volunteer, irrespective of your child’s age.
